Lodent Precision has participated in their first offshore exhibition. Fabtech takes place annually in the USA and is North America’s largest metal forming exhibition. The attendance in Las Vegas this year was high and a sure sign of the emerging green shoots in the States.

As mirrored here in the UK, America is witnessing an increase in demand and a definite move back to purchasing quality Tooling sourced from traditional tool making areas rather than the lower cost developing suppliers and the problems that brings.

We decided to investigate the American marketencouraged by our partnership with American Press tool simulation leaders Stamping Simulation.com, said Chris Sharratt a Director at Lodent, as a result of the positive feedback we were receiving from their US based customers. We saw this as an opportunity to travel across the big pond and find out for ourselves.

The exhibition has proved to us that there is still a close affinity between the USA and the UK. We were welcomed by visitors to our stand with open arms and our erudition and experience were warmly received.
The US market is in exactly the same position as ours. There is a distinct shortage of know-how and understanding in the Engineering sector and, although still driven by price, quality, longevity and ease of maintenance is now becoming a pre requisite when purchasing tooling. It was very noticeable the number of visitors who discussed with us the problems and hidden costs of purchasing off shore tooling and concluded by saying “ We have not been getting value for money – we are changing for the better. Our jobs are hard enough without the added problems of running poor quality tooling producing high volume parts”.

We are confident of securing business from the USA said Chris. This will not be the last time we exhibit at Fabtech and we are looking forward excitedly to Fabtech 2013 in Chicago. Having the exhibition in Chicago, being close to Detroit and Michigan, the home of the American Automotive industry will help us promote our knowledge, experience and services to this wide potential customer base.
